Dr. Edward Rippel is a Board Certified Internist providing care to the Hamden/greater New Haven, CT community since 1993. A graduate of New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, Dr. Rippel was an intern at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, and a resident at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ.
Prior to coming to Hamden, Dr. Edward Rippel was an Attending Physician with the U.S. Public Health Service, at locations as diverse as Littleton, Colorado and Spanish Harlem.
In 1993, Dr. Rippel joined the largest Primary Care group in the Hamden community, where he practiced until January 1999, when the practice was dissolved by its owners. Immediately following, he started his own practice, Quinnipiac Internal Medicine, P.C.
In the summer of 2009, Dr. Rippel was given national recognition for the period August 2009-August 2012 by NCQA, the National Committee on Quality Assurance, for superior care in Diabetes, followed by Recognition in their Heart/Stroke Recognition Program in 2010. In 2011, Dr, Edward Rippel became Connecticut’s first solo provider to be recognized as a Patient Centered Medical Home.
For several years, Dr. Rippel has been on the Faculty of Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, providing supervision and education to medical students at the Yale Primary Care Center.
Being fluent in Spanish and conversant in Italian, Dr. Rippel provides care to non—English speaking patients in their native language, offering them a higher level of comfort.
Using state of the art electronic medical records, all of the staff is able to quickly and efficiently address essentially any question that may arise regarding any aspect of patients’ interactions with the office and the health care system in general.
Overseeing the operations of the office, Elizabeth Clifford, our Practice Manager, has expertise in medical billing, and functions as the “go to person” for all issues that arise in the day to day running of the office, including patient care issues, software issues, and network management.
With many years of combined experience in our reception area, our courteous staff is able to assist patients with every step of their health care interaction, while putting them at ease in the warm environment of our office setting. Beginning with registration, appointment scheduling, insurance eligibility confirmation and coordination of benefits, the staff simplifies the confusing processes of dealing with insurers, and welcomes patients upon their arrival with professionalism and cordiality.
Our medical assistants make patients’ clinical interactions more pleasant by their gentle approach to preparing patients for their visit with the doctor. They perform diagnostic testing, make specialist appointments, and provide follow up to all testing done.
So as to keep our patients informed about their condition, and to ensure their participation in their own health care, it is our practice policy that the doctor or the medical assistant contact patients with results of their diagnostic testing.
